Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

Droopy breasts are a common complaint among women of all sizes and body types. Breast lifting and reshaping offer improvement in comfort and aesthetics and a restoration of a more youthful contour. This is a low-risk outpatient procedure with an easy recovery in comparison with other body contouring procedures. Results of improved comfort and shape are evident immediately but continue to improve over the first several months.

The breast lift elevates the entire breast mound back onto the chest wall and off the abdomen. After healing is complete, support garments are optional, and if used, can be much lighter and less restrictive.

Feminine curves are enhanced with this procedure. Sometimes a mild breast reduction is required at the same time in order to achieve the full lifting effect. Side effects such as loss of nipple sensitivity are rare. The typical full lift procedure requires an inverted T or anchor-type incision. However, for patients with smaller breasts and for patients with breasts that are not severely droopy, less incision is required, which can assume a lollipop configuration.

Dr. Lindsey will have to perform an examination and take measurements in order to make a specific recommendation regarding your mastopexy procedure. For women over 40, preoperative routine screening mammography is recommended.
